Mechanical
Threaded Fasteners (MTF) |
|
This series is a MUST HAVE for all
technical schools, technical colleges, and training centres. This
is the ENTRY level training required in all mechanical trades.
5 Modules
MTF-1 Overview of Mechnical threaded fasteners
At the end of this module the Learner will be able
to:
• Identify by name those threaded fastener
types most commonly encountered in general engineering industry
(with emphasis on mechanical engineering).
MTF-2 Sizes and threaded types
At the end of this module the Learner will be able
to:
• Identify and describe fasteners by size
(measuring)
• Identify and describe fasteners by thread (gauging)
• Identify and compare Metric versus Imperial fasteners
• Read a thread / size chart.
MTF-3 Selection and fitment
At the end of this module the Learner will be able
to:
• Select fasteners on the basis of size,
length and type required, by gauging and measuring
• Order and describe fasteners for store / requisitioning
purposes
• Identify replacement criteria in-situ
• Describe good working practices with fasteners.
MTF-4 Tool selection and usage
At the end of this module the Learner will be able
to:
• Select the correct type and size spanner,
wrench or socket for the situation
• Describe safe working practices and use of tools
• Describe the types, usage and care of torque wrenches.
MTF-5 Thread maintenance & repair
At the end of this module the Learner will be able
to:
• Complete a visual inspection of fasteners
and threads
• Clean up (chasing) of threads (methods)
• Remove broken fasteners (studs)
