4 Modules
MCA-1 Overview of Mechanical couplings
& alignment principles
At the end of this module the Learner will be able
to:
• Identify commonly used linear couplings
• Describe the principles of machinery alignment
• Perform an alignment preparation.
MCA-2 “Bibby” Couplings (Steel Grid Couplings)
At the end of this module the Learner will be able
to:
• Identify
• Dismantle
• Re-assemble
• Perform axial and radial alignment using the two clocks
gauge method.
MCA-3 “Fenna-Flex” Couplings
(Rubber Tire type)
At the end of this module the Learner will be able
to:
• Dismantle
• Inspect
• Assemble
• Align a typical unit using Vernier and Inside Callipers,
as well as a steel rule or straight edge
• Adjust a taper-lock assembly.
MCA-4 Alternative Alignment Methods
At the end of this module the Learner will
be able to:
• Effect an alignment procedure of a Bibby of similar coupling
using “Taper Gauge” and “Feeler Gauge” method.
