DTT-1 Drilling Procedures
At the end of this module Learners will be able
to:
• Identify parts and functions of typical portable and pedestal
drilling machines
• Perform safety checks on the above mentioned machines
• Use a portable machine
• Prepare a workpiece for drilling
• Install parallel and taper shank drills, and set drilling
speeds
• Demonstrate drilling and centring techniques
• Describe care of equipment
DTT-2 Drill Point Grinding
At the end of this module Learners will be able
to:
• Describe standard point nomenclature
• Describe different point designs and applications
• Demonstrate point grinding techniques
• Perform point angle checks.
DTT-3 Hand Tapping
At the end of this module Learners will be able
to:
• Select necessary tools and equipment
• Describe tap nomenclature
• Describe applications of first and second and bottoming
tapes
• Select correct tap drill and prepare a work piece
• Demonstrate tapping procedure.
DTT-4 Hand Threading
At the end of this module Learners will be
able to:
• Identify and select equipment
• Install dies
• Prepare work piece
• Demonstrate threading procedure for solid bar and pipe.
