SMAW 1
At the end of this module the learner will be able to:
• Describe the principles of arc welding.
• Describe the SMAW process.
• Identify by name all the major components in a typical system.
• Identify the three (3) basic types of welding machines
• Read and interpret basic “nameplate information”.
• Identify and describe types of welding leads (cables).
• Identify covered electrodes in AWS 5.1 specification, and
identify basic welding tools.
